Star Wars Books: Ramping up to "Rogue One"

Star Wars Sneak Peek - Amazon Book ReviewAm I the only one who gets chills from the piano-plinking music that runs underneath the Rogue One film trailer? I assume not--and I assume therefore that many of you are just as excited about the upcoming Star Wars books as I am. (Confession: I'm excited about Star Wars books every year, even when there isn't a new movie...or TV show...or Christmas special.)

Whether you like novels, prefer the nitty-gritty "nonfiction" details of the Star Wars universe, or have a Jedi-level crafting powers, here are six compelling new Star Wars books that will hit the shelves in the next few months:

Catalyst (Star Wars): A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno - Who better than the author of Tarkin to tackle a prequel story to Rogue One? Lucerno's Star Wars novels smartly wrap spacefaring action around devious political shenanigans, while always keeping the mythology of Star Wars firmly in focus, and I expect this new novel to be just as good. (Nov 11)

Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy by Pablo Hidalgo - Readers of Star Wars novels know that all sorts of propaganda fuels the Empire's engine. But the Rebellion distributed their own fair share of propaganda as well in a battle to win citizens' hearts and minds. This collection of original, in-world artwork brings a new level of awareness to how to excel in galactic dominance and warfare. (Oct 25)

Star Wars Felt by Aimee Ray - Crafters who went bonkers last year over Star Wars Crochet should snap up this new felting kit, which includes all you need to make the ten featured characters. Each craft is coded with a level of difficulty, from padawan to master, so that you can do (or do not) the characters appropriate to your own skill level, and then build to more difficult challenges. (Oct 11)

Star Wars Art: Ralph McQuarrie - McQuarrie brought to life the iconic look of the Star Wars universe, and now Abrams has gathered his Star Wars artwork, including never-before-seen sketches, into these definitive volumes.
