Announcing the National Book Award Longlists for Fiction and Nonfiction

NbaxThe 2016 National Book Award longlists for Fiction and Nonfiction have been announced. Finalists will be revealed on October 13. 


2016 Longlist for the National Book Award for Fiction

For fiction, the judges are James English (Chair), Karen Joy Fowler, T. Geronimo Johnson, Julie Otsuka, and Jesmyn Ward. Publishers submitted a total of 387 books for the 2016 National Book Award for Fiction. Here's the list:

The judges for Nonfiction are Cynthia Barnett, Masha Gessen (Chair), Greg Grandin, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Ronald Rosbottom. Publishers submitted a total of 521 books for the 2016 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
