Lisa Scottoline Is My New Author Crush

LsFirst, I'd like to say that sitting across from Lisa Scottoline for an interview is a very enjoyable experience. I had heard that she's great, and she is—warm-hearted, thoughtful, and entertaining. I have a little bit of an author crush.

Scottoline—an Edgar Award-winning, best-selling author—has twenty-five million copies of her books in print, and she is published in over thirty countries. While she is best-known for her legal thrillers, she also writes a weekly "Chick Wit" column with her daughter. The columns appear in The Philadelphia Enquirer, and they have been collected into a series of books, the last of which is Does This Beach Make Me Look Fat?

Scottoline's most recent novel is Most Wanted, which goes on sale tomorrow. In the interview below, we talked about Most Wanted and a lot of other things. We spoke a lot about books and writing, and I would have been happy to talk to her for another hour. If you have any aspirations to write, listen carefully to what Scottoline has to say about connecting, getting started as an author, and why books matter.
